Casey Olney brings 25+ years of baseball coaching experience, spanning youth, high school and college programs. He served as head baseball coach at Valley City State University from 2007–2023 and as Assistant Athletic Director from 2017–2023.
At VCSU, Olney’s teams set school records for wins in a season (32), home runs (80) and pitching strikeouts (359). He developed All-Conference players, NAIA All-Americans, an NSAA Player of the Year and dozens of NAIA Scholar-Athletes, while helping players advance to professional baseball. His expertise includes hitting, throwing, catching, recruiting, strength and conditioning, and program development.
Earlier coaching roles included Central College, Pella High School, Bowbells American Legion and Bismarck Babe Ruth, where he helped guide a team to district, state and regional championships and a third-place finish at the Babe Ruth World Series.
Olney holds a bachelor’s degree from Central College and a master’s in Sports Pedagogy from North Dakota State University, earned with a 4.0 GPA. A former college team captain and leadership award recipient, he has also served as president of the Valley City Baseball Association. His career reflects a commitment to teaching the game, developing athletes and building successful programs.
